What is the Inner Game?

As a boy, Tim Gallwey was nationally ranked tennis player in his division and later captained his Harvard University team.
On what was meant to be a sabbatical from a career in college administration, Gallwey worked as a tennis instructor in Monterey, CA. Initially, he focused his efforts on giving traditional instructions with mixed results. He soon discovered that if he simply invited his students to focus their awareness on their strokes as they were, technique evolved naturally and seemed to self correct. Players using Gallwey’s methods improved far more rapidly than usual.

In every human endeavour there are two arenas of engagement:

The outer game is played on an external
arena to overcome external obstacles
to reach an external goal.

The inner game takes place within our mind
and is played against such obstacles as fear,
self-doubt, lapses in focus, and limiting concepts
or assumptions.

The Inner Game is a proven method to be used overcome the
self-imposed obstacles that prevent an individual or team from
accessing their full potentials and reach an external goal.

The program

This Workshop presented by The Inner Game School introduces the history and fundamental concepts of the Inner Game created by Tim Gallwey during his decades of learning, whether in the sports world or in the corporate field.

It is an initiation to the application and self-learning process of The Inner Game concept. According to Gallwey within us there are two voices that struggle every second to dominate our actions. The potential, true voice that was born with us pushes us to a full life, full of achievements and learning. The other voice, which nourishes us with obstacles, criticizes and judges us incessantly, was generated based on our contact with the outside world: parents, educators, culture and society.

In this intense day of activities and exchanges of experiences, the participant will be able to understand how the Inner Game happens and how it can be won. Packed with examples and history, this introductory module has as main objective to make each participant begin to have contact with their potentialities and possible interferences, for sure, an unforgettable day.
